Climbing in Madeira Island - Discovery Island
Climbing develops connection and learning abilities. It is the union between body and mind in a natural scenario. It helps us face our most profound fears, learn to trust in others and know more about ourselves, all in the process of climbing. And all this in perfect safety.
It is an activity where participants go up, down or across natural rock formations, using hands, feet or any part of the body to go across a vertical terrain break and reach their objective. One may say that climbing is a form of freedom.
It has as aim reaching the top of a mountain or a rock face.
Available Difficulty Types
Beginners
Begginers climbing is appropriate for all those wishing to learn to climb. It is practised on a rock wall with different means.
We do it every day in Baia d’Abra, Caniçal. We start the activity with an introduction to all the safety equipment used, as well as cable manoeuvring techniques, climbing and abseiling.
Difficulty can be adjusted according to the individual results of each client.

It’s practised on a technically more demanding rock face, in Pico do Areeiro, the second highest peak in Madeira, at roughly 1800 metres height, within the natural park, with nature working as a catalyst to promote concentration.
There are various means installed, with different difficulty levels, between the 10 and the 50 meters.
