Larano
This captivating expedition stands as one of the most comprehensive and beautiful walks in our program, weaving a historical connection between Machico and Porto da Cruz. It follows in the footsteps of local inhabitants who once traversed this pedestrian pathway, engaging in trade and business.
Commencing at Levada dos Maroços, the initial stretch of the route provides an easy stroll along the levada, flanked by vibrant Mimosa trees and picturesque farmlands. After relishing fantastic vistas of Machico, the journey ascends a trail leading to the vantage point of Boca do Risco. Here, an awe-inspiring panorama awaits—overlooking the vast Atlantic Ocean, the distinct silhouette of Ponta de São Lourenço, the majestic Penha d'Aguia, and, weather permitting, the distant outline of Porto Santo.
Following a brief pause to refresh, the path continues toward Porto da Cruz, tracing a coastal route adorned with captivating views. Along the way, you'll have the opportunity to spot endemic specimens unique to Madeira's ecosystem. The trail offers a blend of natural wonders and historical significance, promising a deeply enriching experience.
This journey, with its blend of history and breathtaking scenery, is truly one of the highlights of our program. It captures the essence of the island's allure, inviting you to immerse yourself in its beauty while retracing the steps of those who once shaped its legacy.
